Knizhnaya Lavka is an independent book space operated by the Books for Development public foundation and located at 19 Yakova Logvinenko St. The venue combines a small bookshop, a library and a gallery, making it a place not only to buy books but also to read, meet people and take part in cultural and community projects. Its selection includes new and pre-owned publications in Russian, Kyrgyz and English, with particular attention given to social, cultural and educational literature that may be difficult to find in major bookstore chains. The Knizhnaya Lavka event programme features book presentations, meetings with authors and researchers, public discussions, slow-reading sessions, book bazaars, exhibitions and art projects. The space also hosts Social Book Forum events and programmes exploring civil society, history, reading and contemporary culture. Its intimate setting is well suited to thoughtful discussions and direct interaction with participants. Visitors are advised to check participation conditions and whether advance registration is required before attending a particular event.
