Gapar Aitiev Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts

The Gapar Aitiev Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts is one of Kyrgyzstan’s leading art institutions and a major exhibition venue. Founded in 1935, the museum holds a collection of around 18,000 works. Its permanent displays feature Kyrgyz painting, graphic art, sculpture and decorative and applied arts, as well as Russian painting from the 18th to the 20th centuries. A significant part of the collection is devoted to major figures in Kyrgyz art and to traditional crafts, including feltwork, embroidery, wood carving, patterned weaving and jewelry. The museum also presents temporary, solo and thematic exhibitions that introduce visitors to both classical and contemporary art. Its events programme may include exhibition openings, guided tours, lectures, artist talks, workshops and other educational and cultural activities. The museum is located at 196 Yusup Abdrakhmanov Street, near Oak Park and the Kyrgyz State Circus.
